The festival
Do you like theatre, dance or circus? Do you feel that the performing arts call you, but the shows you see don’t end up connecting with you? Are you an artist or a company and you are tired of working hard to enter the circuit and not being listened to? Are you a programmer who wants to discover what is going on in the performing arts creation scene?
Festival Z presents shows and performing arts projects created by young people, with the aim of reaching all kinds of audiences. It is a space that is committed to companies and artists under 30 years of age, with the aim of presenting them to the public and contributing to their professionalization. Facing a closed cultural system, full of barriers to entry, Festival Z offers a space and a steping stone for both finished projects and projects in the rehearsal or creation phase.
Audience
If you come as an audience to Festival Z, you will find a diverse and exciting programme to spend four days watching young creation shows that will surprise you.
Artists
If you are an artist or company <30, this is the space to present your project; you will meet other artists like you and you will contact professionals who will help you to carry out your project.
Professionals
If you are a performing arts programmer or professional, you will discover new projects with a young perspective, with the guarantee of quality of the Festival Z team. You will share with artists, companies and other professionals a playful, welcoming and stimulating space.
Why the Festival Z?
Starting a career in any professional field is complicated. In the field of performing arts, it is hard indeed. It is necessary to have a good project in hand, to know where and how we can sell it, and to have a solid structure that can withstand the impulses of an unstable and often precarious and conservative market. Starting a career also has to do with the fact that you’re not known, that no one will take your phone or won’t answer your emails when you introduce yourself and present your work.
Festival Z was born in 2021, from the Fundació Privada Joan Bosch, owner of the University School of Arts ERAM – UdG, with the aim of becoming a motor for promotion and visibility of performing creators of less than thirty years and also a space for reflection and transmission of transgenerational knowledge between professionals with more and less experience. All in all, in line with the goals and trajectory of the foundation, focused on research, qualification and professionalization in the fields of visual and scenic culture.
