There is speculation that 80s rock band Whitesnake may be playing at this summers heavy metal Download Festival,at Donington Park, Castle Donington,in Leicestershire.
Whats more, they may not be on their own.
Fellow rockers Def Leppard just might be going with them.
Fronted by former Deep Purple singer David Coverdale,Whitesnake told their fans that they would be appearing through sending out emails and putting out a bullet in on their MySpace page.
It is thought that their set at Download will celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of their classic album Slip Of The Tongue‘ , It will also pay tribute to the ‘Slide It In‘ LP which celebrates its 25th birthday this year.
If Whitesnake perform on Sunday it will be the fourth time they would have been at the festival, having previous played in 1981, 1983, and 1990.
Def Leppard, on the other hand, were one of the biggest rock band of the eighties, with hits such as `Animal`and `Pour Some Sugar On Me`.
They are expected to perform old classics, along with cuts from their 2008 CD ‘Songs from the Sparkle Lounge.
The band have a long impassioned history with the event. In 1986, they played at the Monsters of Rock festival, in their first engagement following a horrific car crash which cost drummer Rick Allen his left arm. However, Def Leppard still brought the house down and the crowd gave their Allen a special ovation.
However, it has yet to be confirmed that Whitesnake and Def lepard will be joining those acts previously added to the line up. They Include such heavy rockers as Korn,Slipknot,Motley Crue and Pendulum. To say nothing of Dragonforce, Devildriver and The Prodigy.
