When this years T in The Park gets underway, The Radio 1/NME stage will have hosted the finest in music for seven great years now.
Artists such as Pharrell Williams and Paul Weller have performed on this stage in the past.
Festival organisers though have now announced what acts will be stepping out on it in 2009.
To begin with, Friday night will see Australian punk rock band Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds headlining The Radio One NME Stage.
An off shoot of The Birthday Party, they have been going, in various forms, since 1983 and brought an album out in 2008. The critically acclaimed `Dig Lazarus Dig`
They will be joined on Friday by alternative New York band The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. They are expected to be playing songs from their two previous studio albums,`Fever to Tell` and their follow up CD `Show Your Bones`, which NME called the second best album of the year. The Yeah Yeahs then have a third CD due out in April 2009, said to be entitled `Its Blitz`.
British Indie band Keane will headline on Saturday, playing fantastic hits like `Everybodys Changing`, `Somewhere Only We Know`and `Bedshaped`.
Sunday will see the weekend coming to a close with a storming headlining set from US industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails (shortened to NIN). Formed in Cleveland Ohio in 1988 by Trent Reznor. A highly influential band, they have been compared, by David Bowie, to Lou Reed And The Velvet Underground. Reznor was mentioned in Time magazine’s run down of the most influential people of 1997. He has also been called “the most vital artist in music” by Spin magazine.
They will be accompanied by another American band, the alternative rockers from California, Jane’s Addiction, who will probably be playing their classic hit `Been Caught Stealing`,among other tracks.
All and all, they are guaranteed to bring the house down.
