There is a new festival being held this summer, over four days in July. A multi-layered, all encompassing celebration of music, comedy, cabaret, poetry and literature. Which is now in its third year. It is called the Latitude Festival. It takes place in Henham Park, Southwold, Suffolk. Where, from 17-20 July this year, a wealth of talent will be rock the English countryside. So, don’t expect a walk in the woods.

Believed to be reminiscent of the European festivals, Latitude boasts an incredible bill. If you are a fan of music, then you could watch bands over four stages – Artists such as Franz Ferdinand, British Sea Power and Beth Orton will be appearing at The Obelisk Arena. If you stop off at The Uncut Arena, you could see, among many others, Martha Wainwright, Black Kids and Tom Baxter. There is also The Sunrise Arena. And the Huw Stephens curated Lake Stage. Check out the line up for details.

If you visit the Latitude theatre area, you could see the best new writing, and improv, being performed.

There will be famous authors speaking and reading at the book festival. Including Ian Banks and Irvine Welsh.

With the cream of comedy and cabaret also coming to perform at their festivals.

So, if you are looking for four days of festivities, which combine the energy of The Edinburgh Fringe with the rocking sensibility of Glastonbury, then you might want to check your longitude, and head off for latitude.

The festival is organised by Festival Republic (formerly the Mean Fiddler Group), whom have a great track record. They also run Glastonbury, along with the Reading and Leeds festivals.
