From DF Concerts, the people that brought you T in The Park, comes another great music festival. Situated in the West of Scotland, the Hydro Connect Music Festival 2008 (the ‘No-Ned Festival’) is set in the stunning grounds of an eighteenth century castle, Inveraray Castle, near Loch Fyne. Where the Duke of Argyll will welcome music fans and artists from all over the world, to this beautiful stretch of countryside. Which will hold an incredible festival, for its second year in a row. It was formed in 2007, under the name Connect. When it was met with great acclaim. Being mentioned by VirginFestival.com as being one of the ten best boutique festivals.
The festival is now re-christened Hydro Connect. And sponsored by Scottish Hydro, part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group. Hydro Electric are one of the Uk’s leading producers of cleaner, greener renewable energy. Whom, along with DF Concerts, are dedicated to putting on an entertaining festival with a strong ecological message.
So, they would respectfully ask if fans could travel to the festival by coach, if possible. Citylink will be laying on buses from key cities across Scotland, along with Glasgow Airport. Bus tickets are on sale now, but have to be booked in advance. Parking will also be available, but on a limited basis, and car passes must be purchased beforehand.
Then you will be able to enjoy all of that Hydro Connect has to offer, over seven stages. The electronic beats of The Unknown Pleasures tent will return. There will be beautiful burlesque dancers and cabaret from Club Noir. Then you can visit Vegas, The Circuses and Bread Field.
There will also be fresh new talent, playing on The Your Sound Bandstand. Supported by The Scottish Arts Council Youth Music Initiative.
The Oyster Stage is a natural amphitheatre by a cool fresh water brook. You could visit The Guitars And Other Machines Stage. Or go out to the open air disco and have a dance under the stars.
There will be gourmet food served, sourced from the Argyll region. Or you could enjoy a little tipple at the champagne tent.
You could also explore the enchanted castle, or the magical Red Bull Forest Party. Or find a quiet corner, at The Speak Easy Cafe, where you could enjoy coffee, conversation, the spoken word and an acoustic performance. You could even relax at The Rest And Be Peaceful Spa. Before going crazy, checking out the bands.
Home grown Scottish heroes Franz Ferdinand are confirmed to appear. As well as Paolo Nutini, The Manic Street Preachers and Kasabian, among others.
Other highlights will include Nick Cave`s Grindermen making their Scottish debut. While Amy McDonald will be returning home. And The Coral will be performing an acoustic set. It should be awesome.
So, you could be there, at Hydro Connect Festival, on the 29th, the 30th and 31st of August 2008. By the shores of Loch Fyne.
