The rumour mill keeps on turning, just as it does every year. With buzz about which acts will be performing at the various music festivals taking place round the country. This time it is Blur. Hot off the announcement Blur is reforming, rumour has it Blur might play Glastonbury.

They will be playing special dates next summer as well as the Hyde Park show and it is rumoured that a stop at Glastonbury may very well be on the agenda. It has been announced in the meantime though that the recently reformed kings of Britpop may begin with a show at London’s Hyde Park.

Damon Albarn and the boys will play the re union London concert on 3 July with tickets going on sale this Friday (12 December).

“It just felt it was right again. It somehow feels like there’s something for us to do again” He added that: “We’ll do something in London because that seems sensible, but we’re also playing in other parts of the country working up to there.”

There is also speculation that they may complete their resurgence by headlining this years Glastonbury Festival. Organiser Emily Eavis has spoken of a possible performance for 2009. Where it is believed that Albarn would choose the Somerset music event because of the his family’s links with the area.

Damon Albarn performed there two years ago, with his Africa Express experiment. Appearing at the Park Stage, which is curated by Ms Eavis.

This will be the first time that Blur will have headlined The Glastonbury Festival since 1998. They parted ways five years ago, in 2003, during the making of the album ‘Think Tank’. When guitarist Graham Coxon left and Blur became a three piece.

But now they are back and what better way could they celebrate their long awaited reunion, than coming back and playing at their spiritual home?
